Back on 12/16/08 I posted a question about a flasher I found when I removed my upper dash pad.It had a lot of people puzzled. At the NCRS show on Saturday, I showed the part to every vendor that was there and they to were all puzzled. Finaly I went over to the judging area, waited for an opportunity and showed it to a couple of C3 judges. One man recognized it immediatly as the Ignition key buzzer. It is not shown on an electric diagram I have which pertains ONLY to 1977,probably because my car is a late 77 and I should maybe have been looking at a 78 schematic! The only other flashers on this car are: in the console,in the fuse panel and behind map pocket. The newly discovered "ignition key buzzer" is actually a buzzer that looks like a flasher.

BTW, NCRS show was biggest in the last 3 years, no sign of the recession.Best bargain I saw was a 59 that needed complete resto, but was a fairly complete car with matching motor .sticker said 26K,but I bet if I had 22K extra it would have been mine.Lots of vendors, great car show.I hung around for some judging, let me tell you, that is a tough group. One guy had just had his judged by four guys,so I walked over and asked him how he did.He replied don't know yet that group just did the underside! Engine and interior guys not here yet.Another guy had a 20 point deduct because drivers door glass did not have correct code cast into the glass.

The ign key-in buzzer on my '74 is behind the speedo/tach cluster...is that where you found this item? Mine doesn't look anything like a flasher, tho...

Mine on my 72 is also behind Speedo/Tach and it is about 2" wide and 1/4 of an inch thick and about 2" long. I think is has 2 or 3 prongs on it.

Mine was and is sitting on top of speedo right under dash.It looks exactly like  any flasher, except it has 3 spades and a ground wire.I could not find a replacement from any of 10 vendors,so it's already back in the car.I beat that horse to death trying to learn about and find one,so if it doesn't work in the future,TS. Thanks for everyones input.Motor goes together tommorrow eve.Take the Cardnals and the points,Mike

I never knew the judges name, but he had one just like it in his 74(pretty sure that is what he said).I have a picture of it,how about if I e mail it to you and you can post on this website if you want.I can't post photos at all...dinosaur genes. The # at the bottom of this buzzer is a GM # not a philips as I thought. The pc. is made by Philips.

Mike sent me an e-mail with some pics of this thing. He's right...looks exactly like a turn sig/hazzard flasher!
I don't remember ever seeing a buzzer like this!

I'll resize & post the other pics later. Thanks, Mike!

I do remember them.  I replaced a couple many years ago.  I think I did that in a Chevelle, but I'm not sure.

Wish I could remember more.
