I just bought a 1981 Vette.  Could someone tell me where are the fuses located?

Can anyone tell me where I can get a wiring diagram for the car?  Are there any resources online where I might be able to get one?  I see a lot of broken wires under the hood and I'd like to get those straightened out.  Thanks!  George

There is recent thread on wiring diagreams and you can have one sent to you.  I think Joel(Adams Apple) has one for every year.  Your fuses are just above your left foot under the dash.  Very convenient....

Wiring diagram has already been sent...
The fuse box is hidden waaay up under the driver side, to the left of the brake/clutch pedal. If you're a fairly limber feller, you'll be able to see it easily.

Maybe someone removed the computer and that's what the disconnected wires are from.

If you are not a limber fellow as Joel mentioned, pulling the seat helps out tremendously, as I had to do, due to a bad back!  The computer might be cut loose if it is at the firewall center to right of center.  There are (2) large looms in that area.

good luck, gurtz

Check to see if you have an original owner's manual with the car.  If not, pick your favorite Corvette aftermarket parts provider and order a reproduction.  Lots of valuable information in the owner's manual.  My advice would be to also order the '81 assembly instruction manual.

Congratulations on your recent purchase. I hope this photo helps. If you haven't found it yet, this is what your looking for.
If you need more info please let us know.
I also recommend purchasing the 81 Assembly Manual.

Vette(s): Silver '81 mostly original C3. Silver interior, bilstiens, big sway bars, headers.
For electrical stuff the '81 GM workshop manual is definitely the way to go. Has excellent circuit by circuit summaries, diagrams, and explanations, as well as diagnostic flow charts. There are a variety of straight full and abbreviated wiring diagrams available on CD, in Haynes, etc, but none of them are close to as good as those in th GM workshop manual. I got mine off Ebay.CeeDee2008-03-13 01:55:55
