Topic: Gas Gage Stuck
in Forum: C3 Electrical
If a gas gage is stuck on full, could it be a ground issue or something else? The float seems to be working. Thanks

Well Joel Bob, first of all its not my 71. I'm asking for someone else. The float is working cause ya can look inside and see it. I no longer have the car in my possession, so I can't test anything. My question should have been, will a bad ground cause the gage to stay on full? If so, can you ground the tank anywhere or do you have to run the ground from the sender? Dis dude will prolly not look at da wires cause then he'll get all dirty.

The wire on my '74 had a habit of fallin off all the time before I put a new(er) terminal/pigtail on it a few years ago. I guess it just got tired of hangin around back there...

Yeah, check da wires on da sender first, then go forward. IF the center wire is connected properly, then the circuit is prolly open somewhere else, possibly on the back of the gauge...
