Hi All! Thanks again on the help with the interior lights! NOW... as I fix one thing....
I got in this afternoon, & my gas gauge is all the way over to the right, past the full. It is pointing direct to the right.
When I start, it acts like it's reading, by moving a little, but still to the right of the scale. Last night, it was working ok, (showing 1/4). I thought maybe if I filled up, it might correct itself, but no luck. Any advice on where to start? Do I need to drop the tank 1st, or pull the gauge & check there? Is there anything in the cluster that could cause this?
Thanks Mucho!
John

John, first i would start at the tank, where the electrical lines go to the sending unit. I would make sure there is good contact and pull them apart and clean them. Might have some dirt in there. Start at the easiest place first, that's my motto :D
Ok, I'll do that. Thanks!
I'll try that tomorrow, AFTER I change the power steering line that blew today!
HMMM.....gremlins?

John,
Mine did the exact same thing last month on my '81. I posted the problem and was told to pull up the rubber bib around the filler pipe, the wire contact from the tank is under the rubber. Mine had come loose, I re-attached it and it has been working ever since. Hope your solution is as easy as mine. Tom.

I had a little time the other night, so I decided to see how complex dropping the tank would be so I could check wires, & had been reaching around the tank, & tugging on wires. Guess what? The gauge started working!
So I'll have to clean/tighten some grounds!
Again, Everyone out there has come up with a fix! I really appreciate the help! I'm sure learning many little things. & I know I'll be learning more!
Thank Yall!

One time I had a very unusual electrical problen that was confusing everyone. Somehow while charging the battery out of the car the polarity had switched in the battery itself. That is right positive became negative and negative became positive. Things worked but the guages were crazy. This can happen and can be checked easily.
