Every time my hood was closed, my wipers wouldn't work.
Thought they were binding up. Nope no binding. Thought they were getting caught on that slick little plastic shield I have on the wiper area to make it look better. Nope that wasn't it.
It was that dumb little hood alarm switch. When it's engaged the wipers don't work...
Go figure. Adjusted it down. All is well. I guess I really need to trouble shoot why it's shorting out the wipers but....

Well, that's a new one!

Is the switch directly above the wiper motor on your car? On mine, it's more toward the pass side...

Toward the passenger side...
Looks like it's got a wire going directly from the bottom of the plunger switch straight to the motor. I haven't been able to really make sure that's what I saw though.
Been sick as hell...so I haven't trouble shot the "why's" yet.... maybe you have an idea?

Hmmm...the wire to the pin-switch is a ground only...it completes the circuit for the alarm. Perhaps someone has modified the wiring, and now that wire is ground for the wiper motor, but it doesn't ground with the hood shut?
Does your alarm system work? And if it do, does it work when the hood is opened?
Hope you feel better soon!
