Hello - I removed my center gauges and bezel and dangling behind there were two grey wires - they came out of the harness at a location right under the passenger side wiper.  The ends of the wires had 1/2in round connecters that look almost like washers obviously these two were meant to have some type of bolt put through them but I can find no place where they would fit - any idea what these two might be for?  Could they be old 9-track connectors that just were left dangling there when the  radio was replaced.  Any ideas would be appreciated, I'd hate to leave them unconnected if theyy are meant to go somewhere important

Usually, grey wires are for instrument lighting....don't know of anything behind the dash area that would have eyelets on them other than grounds.
The wiring diagram does show a grey wire coming from the wiper switch to the wiper motor, as well as two other grey wires, one from the switch to the instrument lamps(gearshift indicator, and the printed circuit board), and one from the fuse-box, both tied together at the wiper switch.
The two grey wires that are together at the switch are definitely illumination circuits. The one that goes to(or from) the wiper motor I assume lights the "Washer" lamp when you use the "Washer" button on the wiper switch.
Those are the only grey wires I see in the diagram, in that particular area. There are others too, but, as I say, they are all for instrument lighting. I have seen some of the fixtures for the instrument lamps that were broken, and they sorta look like you might could put a bolt or screw thru them...that may be what you are looking at. Can you get a pic of them?
hth.

Vette(s): 1980 L-48 still in the middle of a frame-off.
Are you sure that's not part of the circuit board for the guages?? It may have torn off from them and it would look like a washer but isn't.

Corvettes and women are the same...You want to make love to them but they keep breaking down.

I will check that out - is there a special reference you are looking at?  I have several manuals perhaps I have the same one.  Thank you - Ken

I agree.  Grey is instrument lighting.  A picture is worth a thousand words.

Ken, I'm just going by the wiring diagram for the '80 Corvette. That, plus knowing that most of the time, small, grey wires behind the dash are usually for illumination circuits. If the wires in question are part of the original harness, I feel confident that they are for lamps somewhere in the console/cluster. If they appear to not be part of the factory harness, then they may well be some "Bubba" leftover...
I'll send you a copy of the wiring diagram, in case you don't have one.
