I HAVE A 74 VETTE THAT HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHTS. IF I HIT A BUMP THE HEADLIGHTS BLINK OFF AND THE TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS AND BRIGHT LIGHT INDICATOR LIGHTS UP AND STAY ON UNTIL THE HEADLIGHTS COME BACK ON. OR IF THE HEADLIGHTS DIM THEN THE SAME LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIGHTS UP SLIGHTLY. I AM GUESSING THERE IS A SHORT SOMEWERE BUT THOUGHT MAYBE SOMEBODY MIGHT NOW WERE TO START LOOKING. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED MARTY

When these cars start getting old things get dirty and wear out,
It's hard for me to keep each years wiring clear in my weary brain,
if it does it on most every bump I would think you could reproduce it in the driveway jiggling things,
since I assume both headlights do it I would start with the headlight switch, then make sure all contacts grounds etc are clean and good, my 66 had a problem where the wires came off the back of the fuse box and went thru the firewall, I pulled it apart cleaned it and sprayed lots of wd-40 type oil on it.
I'm sure some other members will have some ideas,
best wishes
T.

Headlights and turnsignals are almost always on seperate circuits. If one is affecting the other the first place I would check is any bulbs or sockets that serve as both turn signals and parking lights (dual filament bulbs). I had the same problem on my wifes Toyota. Her dash lights would glow when she hit the brake pedal. The dual filament bulb had melted together and power was flowing from one circuit to another.

Good luck! |thumb|
