Hi all...seems like its going to be a long winter. I'm getting a list together on things that need to be done to the car in the spring. I changed the rubber door rod seal on the vacuum actuators but the left headlight seems to slow down as it reaches the fully open position and does not open fully. I changed both relay valves also, one was new and the other was a used one that was working fine for my windshield wiper door. Should I replace the vacuum actuators with new ones ?

Make sure all of the pivots and linkages are well lubed. Also, check to see that all of the springs are in place. If those things don't correct the lazy door, you may want to use a vacuum pump to see if the actuator is leaking.

White Lubriplate is fine for those areas, if you can get it to all of the moving parts. They also make a spray type white lube that is easier to get into tight areas. A little shot of WD40(or similar) on all of the pivots and bushings would tell if that is causing a bind, and if the door functions better after a spray, then you could do a good dis-assemble/lube with something more long term.
