Does anybody know where the neutral start switch is on a 79 vette. Not the one in the console. but the one under the dash.... Heavy guage purple and yellow wire connection. I dont tknow if it is a seperate switch, or plugs in around the steering column somewhere...
Thanks
Dan

For an automatic, it will be part of the shifter assembly in the center console (along with the reverse light switch).
For a manual trans, it's connected by a linkage to the clutch pedal, tucked up where it's almost impossible to get to without removing the pedal carrier assembly..... look up by the top of the clutch pedal pivot.
You might want to look at one of the diagrams on-line at the Corvette Central or such sites, they usually have pretty good exploded diagrams....
Hope that helps,
Pancho

According to the wiring guide for my '78, that purple wire goes to the starter solenoid from the neutral safety switch, and the yellow wire goes from the hot (start only) side of the ignition switch to the solenoid.
I'm still a bit confused....does the column end plug into anything on an automatic or not?????
