OK wiper motor not working.  New switch, bypass on delay module.  Ran jumpers from battery to motor and that works fine,  tested the high, low and park work great.  I have 11.99 volts when I check the center post on the "1,2,3" plug (Willcox description) positive lead to center negative to ground on engine block. When I test the upper (I think purple) to the center I have 11.9v  bottom to center I get 4v-5v.  That would seem to be my problem but I'm not sure.  Am I testing this wrong?  Look at the picture I have and notice the resistor?  What gives?

Dave, I feel your pain.  Wish I could help solve the problem but my wipers haven't worked since November last.  But it hasn't rained since.  My problem appears to be a vacuum problem.  I've got a new set of hoses but other issues have intervened.  Keep us posted.

Not sure of colors but looking at that test the center pin will always have 12v in low pins 1 and 3 will be grounded in high only pin 3 will be grounded

So at your you connector this is what should be their  Remember key on

Wiper sw in low: 12 volts Wht 2 to Gry 1 and 12 volts Wht 2 to PPL 3

Wiper sw in High: 12 volts 2 to 3 and 0 volts 2 to 1

you could do it this way:  Verify 12 volts pin 2

now switch your meter to the OHMS RX1 scale then with wiper switch in LOW you should have continuity to a good ground on both pins 1 and 3 whichever is open would be the problem area. if the wipers do not work at all I would think pin 3 would be open.

Can’t tell by the photo that could be a diode instead of resistor look for a white stripe at one end

That IS a diode in the pic, not a resistor. Thumbs Up
Gotta remember that these wiper motors work from GROUNDS.....the motor always has 12v(or battery voltage) on the center terminal(key on). This is why it is so important to have the wiper switch itself grounded well.

Yup...what he said. Approve Do this test with the connector UNPLUGGED from the wiper motor.

Maybe....you dint say what position you had the wiper switch in when you did this test. Wiper switch OFF, you should get NO voltage reading between the center terminal and either of the other terminals. Wiper switch in LOW you should have 12v from center terminal to BOTH of the other terminals. Wiper switch in HIGH, you should only see 12v from the center terminal to the #2 terminal. In the above quote, you say you had 4-5v from center to bottom terminal....that tells me you have a ground problem.....depending on WHERE the wiper switch was positioned when you tested it. You should have seen either 0 volts, or 12v....nothing else. ALL of these test should be done with the connector unplugged.

One last "test"....with the connector plugged in, wiper switch on LOW(key ON), ground BOTH of the other terminals. The wiper should work on low range. Un-ground the #1 terminal, and it should shift into high gear. If it does anything else, there is a problem with the wiring between the wiper motor and switch, or the switch itself is not grounded properly....assuming the switch is good, of course.

Now I have a headache......and it ain't even my car! LOL LOL LOL

oh...the diode is there to keep the circuit from backfeeding voltage between the hi/low settings.

Because I hate electric so much I have been avoiding going back to this particular crime scene.  I get all the proper readings with the connector unplugged.  Once I ground the two outside terminals I get nada.  Soooo, i'm guessing I need to check the ground on the switch.  Now I get to pull the dash yet again...WOOHOOCry.  How do I test the grnd on the switch?  Since I'm heding to Ebofest this really needs to get done.  I can carry only so much Rainx.

Thanks again guys

if you grounded the two outside terminals and the wipers did not work it sounds like your motor is not grounded properly. if the above checks on the connector where good you wipers switch is good and grounded. Take a step back write down the checks and double check everything

Well after lots of hard work all on my own(if you don't include Bob and Joel, who really fixed it by painting me a pictureEmbarrassed) I fixed the damn wipersThumbs Up.  It was a bad ground to the motor.  It kept on reading good until I moved it ever so slightly.  So, I replace it and now it works just fine!  Now that it's fixed it probably won't rain.LOL

Thanks yet again, next time you see me you can throw water on my car...wait for the t-tops to go on though.

I'll start on the blower motor next!  I'll need it for those cold sunny days in January.
