Greetings,

Need some assistance with a 1982 power seat switch.  I have no power to the switch.  In my books and assembly manual I don’t see any fuse for the power seat.  I found a post on the forum that said the power windows and power seat are on the same fuse.  The power windows do work.  The old switch was fully functional except it would not move the seat backwards Now I got nothing.  If someone can point me to a fuse or wire under the dash that would be greatly appreciated.

The power windows/seats use a circuit breaker instead of a fuse. Can't say for certain where the breaker is on the '82, but the earlier cars with power winders had the circuit breaker mounted on the firewall, just to the right of the brake booster/master cylinder. Your breaker may have broke, or has come loose. If you have the owner's manual, it should give you the location of the circuit breaker. If you do not have the manual, perhaps someone else here can confirm the location...

The wiring diagram shows the circuit breaker in the fuse-box. Same circuit breaker protects the power windows and seat circuits. Do your windows work? If so, then you have a wiring issue between the fusebox and the seat switch. It's common to find the wires pinched on power seats, since the wiring sometimes gets caught up in the mechanism as the seat moves. Check the orange w/black tracer wire at the switch connector for power with the key on. Make sure there is a good ground at the black wire on the connector, also...a bad ground can cause the same problem.

Check underneath the carpet on the drivers side.  Where your feet rest while you drive, thats a common place for the wire to brake!!

Im sure you have already checked this, but , make sure the large connector under the seat is securely attached.
