Anyone have experience with HID headlights in C3's?? I am looking at a simple housing/bulb conversion kit that looks easy and is cheap...which usually means there's something wrong with it!!

Just a bulb and housing? Does the bulb have a transformer combined with it? HIDs do use a transformer. Make sure it's not an imitation, just brighter than normal light.

I no nothing about them ... yet. I'm looking for a HID setup for my C3.

I have them in my C5 (which I'm sure everyone that attended C3X will comment on |biggrin| ) and definately want them in the '73.

Can you tell us more about what you have found? |cool|

This link takes you to the set-up I'm looking at. I'm suspicious primarily because it's so inexpensive. Previously, I had been looking at a Sylvania set-up that cost ~$500.00.

And the reason... because these are not true HID headlights. What they are selling you are Xenon bulbs. They are "HID look Xenon bulbs".

Now the Xenon bulbs are much much brighter than standard bulbs. They are an excellent value for the price.

True HID lights will far outshine the Xenon bulbs. But, true HID lights will also cost several hundred $$$.

On my C5 I first upgraded (last year) both low and high beam bulbs to Xenon bulbs. A major improvement. Brighter light using less power.

Earlier this year I converted to true HID lights. No comparison... the HIDs are B R I G H T In fact, I never use my high beams anymore... because the high beams are a fraction of the brightness of the HIDs.

One thing to keep in mind with HIDs is that you gotta keep the headlights aimed properly. The first thing I did after the conversion was to have mine checked. An out of adjusted HID headlight will blind people.

I was looking at both the eBay auction and the AutoOptiks web site. For the price I don't think it is a bad deal. Xenon is better than stock.

Good luck |cheers|

There is one company that does a True HID headlight system for our cars, but its going to cost you.

Here is the link. They also have the brighter plug in LED tail lights as well.

Their stuff was featured In popular Hot Rodding magazine as an install Article.

Bill, did you ever try that light setup on ebay. I was looking at the same set up. He also has it listed for all four lights http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7922364151&category=36476&refid=store

It dose seem a little cheap..but shipping is $26.
