Last year I replaced the contacts in the 76 and got the horn blowin again. It was after a close call of an inattentive driver that promted the repair.
So, Friday, I was toolin around in town and all the sudden a guy cuts in front almost hitting me in the drivers side due to a poor lane change without him lookin before he leeped. I hit the horn button and nothin but a click from the relay. Fortunately I wasn't in the gas to much and was able to get stopped.
Once I got her home I started checking things. A test lead and some time revealed that I had power thru the system all the way to the end of the line. Then I tested each horn with a lead from a deep cycle 12 volt battery I keep charged. Still no sound.
Seems that after 30+ years my original Delco's have given up the ghost. Both at the same time. Never heard of that happenin, anybody else heard of it?
I ended up replacing them with new horns and yep, Got Horn and they work !!

General motors and General electric must have a formula that they share with each other.
We have in our house, a GE exhaust hood over our cooking range that has four halagen down lights. This hood is five years old with a five year warranty...even on the bulbs.
Last Thursday, three of the four bulbs burned within hours of each other and the forth burned on Friday.
These babies are six dollars each.......G.E. had it down to within hours.
Now that's as spooky as the bicmans horns.........

Yep ! GM must of had a 30 yr. Warranty on those babies
. All my horns don't work. They haven't made it to the top of the priority list yet. I'm out in the country. Not much to honk at but cows.

My '71 onkly had one horn when I bought it, not loud enough to scare anyone walking in front of the car. It should have two, right? Looking in catalogs, there's different note horns available. How can I tell which one I don't have?

I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...

Yep, must have had a 30 yr war. on em.
With the traffic around here I figured I better have something to fend off the people that have no earthly clue what their doing on the road.
Longhorn, my horns were set up so that the Low tone was the one in the middle of the car on the Dark Green hot supply wire and the High tone was the one at the end of the dark green hot supply wire and mounted toward the passengers side of the car in the nose. Yours might be different being a 71 but, I doubt it. I looked in the build sheet that I have but, didn't find anything other than they are refured to as "horn assembles". I asked my local GM parts guy and he looked up the part no. from the back of the horns for me last year when I was first trying to get em fixed.
Good luck sir.
