Has anyone ever had a hint that the module was going bad? My Pace Car has always been a little hard to start and idled a little roughly compared to the others. I figured it was from lack of use(OK, it's a trailer queen). Anyway, Saturday it would not start, no spark. Put in a new module tonight and reached in the open window to start it and it fired right up, didn't even have to touch the gas. Nice smooth idle!
Last time one of these went out on me it was in my Nova at 80 mph on the highway. Just stopped running, no warning at all. Heard that is how it happens.
With this in mind, would a module be a possible cure for others with hard starting? Just a thought.

From what I hear Mike....they work or they don't work.
Did you change the cap and rotor at the same time?

I have had that problem twice once on a 79 Trans Am and once on a 83 Cadillac the Trans Am just started running rough and the idle was real rough, I went nuts trying to figure it out, carburetor, wires distributor cap and rotor all to no avail, finally I replaced the module and it ran like a top. Almost the same thing with the Cadillac both were running but not very good so I believe the thought about the HEI module working or not working at all is not 100% accurate.
