I agree as well, if you want itr to go down, with your fingers, just crimp each line going to and from the actuator, until the door shuts ON ITS OWN.

Hey, not sure if this will help but I had the same issue with the right side. I had a leaking vac hose on that side and then it still was very hard to move. What fixed mine was by replacing the Vauum Hose Check Valve located next to the firewall on the drivers side----I think just left of the stearing col. It is a plastic/metal 3way valve, 1 on one side and 2 on the other. The part is $15.00 at Mid America and is on page 215 (J). When I replaced this on my 75 everything works great! let me know your progress.
