Nice one guys,
thanks for all the info!
When i can be bothered to get the console out again, i'll check all the connections.
In the mean time, if anyone out there has a diagram or picture, then bring it on!

Hey Normand
Thanks for taking the time to send me the low fuel light wiring diagrams.
One problem, they haven't arrived yet! |headscratch|
I know we've had problems getting emails to each other in the past, perhaps it will take a little longer. You may want to try again, when you get a moment.
Hope everything is cool with you.
Cheers

All these "modern" cars....on my car, if I don't trust the gauge, all I need to do is open the fuel door, remove the fuel cap, then stick my hand down into the tank and feel how much fuel is left.... |laugh| |haha|

Good luck...electrical problems can be a pain.... |thumb|

Yeah, I'd have a bit of trouble getting my hand in through the filler neck(!)
All the gadgets are all very well, until a quarter of a century goes past, and they all start going tits-up.
I've had the car for nearly a year now, and (tempting fate) the only real "problems" have been with the electrical gadgetry and "luxury" bits. I think I'll buy something simple next, like a tractor...
Actually, they've got enough gizmos, these days..

|QUOTEThinking about this, shouldn't the light come on as soon as you put the key in run - no matter how much fuel you have in the tank, the needle has to start from empty??
Actually, mine sometimes creeps up very slowly when the car's left. Are they supposed to read full-time, or only when the ignition is on?

|headscratch|

They work off of resistance, just like the gage does. The reason it comes on dim and may go on an off, is that your just at the point of lighting it up. They are not like the fancy cars that as soon as the fuel level gets to a set point a light comes one and stays on. This is just like the fuel gage and will slowly light up as fuel is used. As your driving the fuel is moving around and that changes the level (watch the gage). That is why the light may come on during braking, but then turn off under acceleration.
Mine works, but if it is on, you better have a gas station in sight. It only comes on when the gage is on "E", or as my wife says -- "when it reads get out and walk."
