someone else must have run into this same problem. I bought a billet msd distributor for a corvette, and it turns out the tach drive is on the opposite side as the original distributor, and therefore it spins my tach backwards, and it does not work. Is there any way to fix this?? MSD has some very good products and i can't believe they overlooked this???

I put a msd distributor on my 69 last year and didn't have any problems at all. You can put the distributor anywhere you want to as long as you get the inside turned the way you need it to be. MSD does have a 24 hour tech hotline and they will work with you...very nice people. Good luck.

One more thing I ran into was the cable from the old distributor was too log for the new MSD and it would not work. After pulling my hair out I cut the cable even with the screw on part.....and it worked. Make sure your cable is not sticking out.
You will be it working, and you will love it. Where did you mount your 6A box? Not alot of places to put it is there.
Good luck,
Ken

in the boox for the tach drive distributor they have "gear flipping" instructions. you will need a different gear but this is easy to get from MSD.

I also did not have this problem when installing my MSD..

I cant remember which one it was... either the 8571 or 8572 (the one with the vac advance which I prompty removed-- just wanted to have the option)

it faces the drivers side of the car..

my last 69 was the same way..

which side is yours on ??

what part number ??

they do make one setup for the passenger side (and they can be converted either way easily)
