On my '93 LT1 there is a square connector on the throttle body (passenger side) it is grey and has a pin pattern like this :: and of course four wires. The clip that locks it in place is broken and I need to replace the connector. I've checked in my books but can't find anything that confirms what this is to my satisfaction. I suspect it as the culpret
for a DTC 41 error code with a no start and no cranking RPMs. Could it be?

Hi Jim, Not sure exactly which connector this is. I may be able to look at my old 93 later today and help you. You might look to see it there is a GM part number on it for a reference.
This will help you to start thumbing through CORVETTE CENTRAL. At this page click on the C4 catlog with the picture of the Grand sport on it. (right side). This catalog page will pop up. At the bottom of the page click on SEARCH. Type in throttle body, this will take you to the approxamate page in the catalog with TB information. I think the pages you want are 69 - 72.
Hope this helps you.

That is the IAC(Idle Air Control) solenoid.
I doubt it would have anything to do with a no-start/no cranking RPM issue. My best guess is you have a distributor(Opti-Spark) problem. They do have some serious durability issues, such as moisture contamination, due to the location on the front of the engine, behind the waterpump.
Code 41 indicates that the PCM has determined there is an open, or a short to voltage, in the ignition control circuit while cranking. This will keep the engine from starting.
I have a little info on it here...I'll e-mail it to ya.

PM sent.. I just was looking for the connector earlier. When Joel mentioned the Optispark it brought back some haunting memories. I sent you some additional information and a whole freakin list of codes , what they mean, etc. I have a ton of tech stuff you can research in your spare time about the problems with the LT1 C4 cars. Codes, Optispark, Grounds etc.
Good Luck!!!
Good Luck!!!
Got all the info Tux, thanx bunches. You're right. I have a couple of unpleasant memories of opti sparks myself. I upgraded (term used loosely) this one to a MSD last spring and swear I hate to tear in to it again. You'd think it should be good for more than a year. The other half will kill me if I have to replace it again.
Joel, IAC, got it. I'm sure you're right, I can't find a link between it and the
ignition system in the diagrams. This MSD opti is vented and incorporates an o ring to seal the cover and pulls air in from the from the air intake ahead of the throttle body to help with drying moisture. Seems like good ideas. I can't see any signs of waterpump leakage but who knows.
Blame opti sparks.

Sorry guys. Just noticed I began this post in the wrong forum. But hey, since I'm here, any body interested in a low mileage 1993 black rose AE
in need of minor repair?
