Well it happened to me again.  I've adjusted the neutral switch and got the car running after it sat for a day but when it wouldn't start after a short stop in a store.  Does the neutral switch heat up and stop working?  I ask because when I tried to rotate the switch it was very warm.  Also there is a , I don't know what to call it maybe a condenser,  in a holder mounted in front (as you are looking at the neutral switch on your knees at the passenger side) and to the right of the switch.  What is it and what does it do?

Richard, the NNS really shouldn't be getting hot, except as a byproduct of driving, and the heat from the tunnel is getting it warm. If it sat for a day, and you tried to start it and it got hot then, there is a problem, either with the switch itself, or in the circuit to the starter. You may need a new switch...

The thing you describe as a condensor is probably the flasher for the alarm system. If it is round, maybe 1/2"-3/4" diameter, about 1" long(maybe 1 1/2") and has three terminals on one end, that's what it is. If it is some other size, we may need a pic...Wink

to the neutral switch there are only some wiring connected.. no condensor or something . your problem is kinda weird , if it happens again i would disconnect the NNS  by unplugging (under the console where the NNS is located ) and connect the wires  ( just some alu folie or paperclip in the connector to see if the problem is solved , atleast you can find out that way if the problem is really with the NNS . ( the wiring on the front of the switch are for the neutral  ( the green and pink on the rear of the switch are backlights if i am right :))))

if the NNS get hot just after starting your car there is something wrong.. but i can imagine after driving for a bit the heat of the engine/exhaust warms up the NNS and surrounding area.

Yes, the other two wires are backup lights.   The switch does not have any power once you release the key.  So there is nothing to make it hot.   Unless the back up light circuit is staying on all of the time.  It does have power all of the time when the key is on, unlike the start position through the NSS.    You may want to see what the back up lights are doing.   If they stay on all the time you may have found your problem.  If they are off check with a volt meter and see if there is a poor contact causing some current flow, even if the rear lights don't come on.   This condition could create a lot of heat.
