Well I finally got around to replacing my a/c control panel and I must say I am noting but disappointed.  Control from max air and all setting to the right are hit and miss when it comes to changing the air flow.  Will not go into defrost mode at all now.  Not a big deal on that setting, did not work right before anyway, a/c does not come on.  Give me some feedback please.

Since the defrost is the default position with no vacuum applied, I suspect that the diaphragm, spring, or valve is broke/stuck.  I'd check all of the hoses and diaphragms with a Mityvac.

I don't have a that equipment (Mityvac)  to check it.  Where is that diaphragm located? BTW I could get it to work w/ my old panel.  This new panel is worst then my old as far as setting go and getting the vacuums to work in the correct position on the panel.  Was hoping to get some feed back on others who have install panels.

The a/c does not come on in the defrost position also, never did.

Looking for anyone that has replaced a panel and what luck they had?  My old panel had no vacuum issues.  This new panel is a mess?  HELP!

I replaced mine years ago and I never really had a problem .Sometimes it will take a few seconds to activate the door in the vent. Had my whole system apart a couple of years ago and it works okay. I see you live in Metairie,as I do also. I live close to Lafreniere. I've gone through about everything in my 79, so if you have any questions I may be able to help. Have owned my 79 since 80.

Thanks...I sent my panel back.  Waiting on a new one.  My email is joe.dewey@yahoo.com.
Will indeed contact you if you don't mind.

Doing some things to hopefully sell mine this spring.  I just don't do anything with the car anymore.  Its time.

Well I am back to attacking my restart issue again.  I have my A/C and Heat control panel out the car which I though maybe the issue and that is not it.  Ran the car on the street and in my garage for about and hour and the car attempted to restart once but that wasn’t it, will not restart.  I also have my alternator light coming on at low rpm’s on the dash.  I replace it years ago with a new one.  Keep in mind I have always had this re-start problem.  Looking for what direction to go here?  May have to address my alternator problem again first.  Belt is pretty tight, so I don’t think that is it.  My starter is also rapped w/ a heat shield.  Has to be something simple, I just need to find it.  I am trying to get the car close to 100 percent so I can sell it.  I just don’t do anything w/ the car anymore, its time.  Looking for help.

I just posted above if you can help here.  A/C panel is not it.   Still deciding what I will do about the panel.  The new panels will not work in my car.  Next step is to replace just the electrical part in the panel.  Long story ; (/

Replaced the compressor switch on my old panel with one from Corvette American and my A/C heat panel is working fine now.  What a pain this process was.  Thanks for all the help.  Now back to the re-start issue.
