Started the car up and it looks like the RPMs are stuck at 6500. Any idea what would cause this?  Did I miss plugging something back in?

Gauge us still sitting there with engine off.

The electric tach will sit just about anywhere with no power to it, so it appears something didn't get plugged back in completely. Since we can assume the tach was working before, then it's safe to say the connector is prolly just not seated all the way.

could be a ground issue, but it seems that would effect more than just the tach. It may be a silly question, but...have you checked the fuses? A blown fuse, or no power to the tach, would cause the same thing.
Did you happen to change the circuit board with the dash?

No circuit board looked ok so I reused it...  Of course, now I've got issues with the winders not wanting to move...neither of them....

*sigh*   Wiring diagram wasn't a help...I'll check fuses again tomorrow..  Maybe I missed one...

Did you drop the steering column down while changing the dash stuff? Maybe the ignition switch got moved, or bumped out of whack, and it's not completing a couple of the circuits needed to power this stuff.
The reason I say this is....the ign. switch on my 'Burban does the same thing....Sometimes, if I don't hit it just right, the windows , the HVAC blowers, and sometimes the radio won't come on. I have to "jiggle" it a bit to get them working....I'm just too lazy to crawl under there an adjust the dang thing...

If you did drop the column, I read in the manual that any foreign material can cause havoc.  I had to pull the column again, spray all the connectors with an electrical contact cleaner then I applied di electric grease.

All back to normal, but just about everything associated with the column went haywire till I did above.

Did you forget to put the lovely 5/32 screw fastening the tach to the dash cluster?  That might be loose.

good luck

5/32 screw fastening the tach to the dash cluster?

Don't remember seeing it.

My major concern right now is that the windows don't work. They did before I took the dash out. I checked all the fuzes and traced wires but I see nothing. Anyone know how the windows ground? There are no good wiring diagrams including the power winders...

Are the fuses "hot" with the key on?
