I didn't even think of the cigarette lighter....
I did consider the clock ...but I think the lighter will be a better choice.
Thx...did you hear a pop when I pulled my head out
Good work! How does the CD player work? Does it skip when you go over bumps? Mine does!
Adam, After about twenty miles and some pretty bad railroad tracks I am happy to say that it never skipped a beat. Stevie Ray Vaugh sounded real good.

Brian:
Great pictures, and nicely done! Congratulations!
Adam:
If your CD player is skipping I would suggest making sure it is properly supported. Did you install it yourself or have it "professionally" installed? If it's properly mounted, what is the delay rate on it? Most CD players nowadays have a cache of memory where they store up to 40 seconds worth of music to eliminate the whole skipping problem.
I've got a CD/MP3 player in my '79 and have never heard it skip, even over the worst bumps.

I installed it myself, which is probably the problem, right? How would I know if it is mounted correctly or not?
Also, the whole system sounds really crappy when the volume is loud. I already have the bass cut-offs on the front speakers, so they sound ok, but the back speakers sound like crap. They are fairly new, so I don't think they are shot.
It's always something!

Also, even if quality speakers are used and not installed in a properly designed enclosure, appropriately insulated and damped, audio quality will be less than optimal as well. Unfortunately, when our cars were designed and built, radios were simply radios and not sound systems, and quality was not a big consideration in the radio itself or the quality of speaker design and installation. While quality components are available to us now (I'm partial to Alpine stereos), quality speaker installation is an iffy proposition at best, trying to "make do" in cars not designed for such considerations.
