I think Joel is right if it is not a fusible link it would have to be in the engine bulk head connector. on my 77 one fuse link protects the crkt that goes to the under hood lights and to the Altenator another goes to lights i am sure the 82 has more and are split differently, If you can email me the diagram for the 82 i would like to take a look.

I don't know if this will help, as I am not a mechanic and I did NOT stay at a Holiday Inn. But, I did have a similar problem with my 82CE. When I turned the key to start, there was no cranking, none ziltch, period!! The headlights worked, the horn, radio, dome light etc.. all worked, but absolutely no cranking! The starter and solenoid were rebuilt but I still had the intermittent problem. As the problem continued, the alternater and ignition switch were replaced, but still very intermittent. The battery, the connections to the starter all checked out good. Every time we thought the problem was solved and the car would start, it again became intermittent. We finnaly found that the factory cable/wiring at the starter had bad connections. The wires at the started were not crimped properly. They were "loose" inside the barrel connector causing an intermittent problem. I ended up replacing the wiring to the starter and, replacing the starter, again. It has been 3 weeks and I drive my Vette almost every day without any problems. I don't know how much help this will be. Hopefully some.
The car sat for 4 ot 5 days. I didn't touch it. I decided to send it to a dealer via flatbed to see if they could fix it.
The S-O-B started right up and stayed started. I drove it onto the flat bed. And it started for the mechanic at the dealer.
They say that they can't find any problems.

Vette(s): 1975 corvette stingray coupe
I should probally have started another topic instead of reply but I feel the pain. I own many different chevys and never experianced this until my first corvette a 75 and low and behold the exact same thing. Ran for 30 min hit power window and zilch , I lost 100% all electrical power to everthing. Opened the hood and started pulling on wires checkin connections found an orange wire with a replaceable fuse laying on the exhaust and not connected to any thing by the starter side ( still not sure were this goes ) pulled it a side and pulled fuse then wife told me dome lights on hit key and drove off. 20 min down the road kicked high beems on and darn zilch nothin at all. We were standing out side the car waiting for tow and everthing came back on 10 min later. I need to get TA out of the garage to look under vette but somethin aint right. I did remove entire dash and found two grounds melted away one to the door frame other to speedo bezle. Fixed those and have driven it around town but not on hiway yet. Has a new starter and alt when I bought the car month ago and needs some wires fixed under the hood. I.E. Cut wires to the AC box resistor were wired to by pass this. wires spiced in for the choke and the idle. and the orange wire not hooked up to anything. Is this harness the same as F Body's were it is bolted with a plug to the fuse panel?
