No Turn SIgnals

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
I discovered I didn't have any turn signals the last time I had the car out, so today I decided to try and find the problem today. Checked fuses, all good, as were the bulbs. I took the car to a local shop and they checked everything...said it had to be in the steering column. Whoa, didn't want them  to go there so I called our not so local C3 guru. He told me to turn my flashers on for a few seconds and then try the turn signals. They worked like a charm. Now don't ask me why coz I was so glad I didn't have to go into the column, I just said thanks for the tip Gene.
 
 
Just thought I would pass this along. Anyone know what the flasher would have to do with the turn signals not working? Confused

The hazzard flashers use a different flasher than the turn signals, but, they both work the same bulbs, and both have circuits in the turn signal switch. The circuits are separated(l-r/f-r) in the turn signal switch. It's possible the circuit was corroded at the hazzard switch, not allowing the turn sig circuit to complete.

No, I'm no artist. Just saved those for my wife who loves butterflies. I'm glad you enjoyed the pics of rearn2gos, past and present. There's only one I regret selling and that's the little corvette I built for my daugher when she was 5.

Good reply.
I recently had a very similar experience with one of my C4s, but the wiring is very similar (perhaps identical?) and the brake lights wouldn't work - but turn and hazards did!  Again, if you look at the wiring charts for the car everything for those lights goes through the steering column and through the turn signal and hazard switch.
 
So, i started looking at all the wiring, traced the problem back to the steering column (no big surprise) and was quite pleased to find it was simply the big, long connector for the wiring harness to the steering column.  Somehow it had worked loose just a tiny bit, but enough to stop the brake lights from working.  Pushed it all back together and with a couple of wire-ties I locked it all into place.
 
Just posting that in case someone else has a similar strange problem.
