I just started my new ZZ4 today and while I was breaking in the cam I noticed a strange reading on my oil pressure gage. With the wire connected to the sensor it read 0 psi pressure and when I disconnected it the gage shot up to 90 psi!!!! The sensor was just replaced on my old engine and it worked fine so I installed it on my new motor. Could it be anything  to due the compatability of the sensor with the ZZ4 or is it some problem with the sensor or wiring????Shocked I'm getting oil to the engine just fine and it ran really sweet with no noise from the engine indicating low oil. Starts with in a half a crank every timeWink. Red Vette-762008-07-22 08:36:41

You can screw that gauge into about anything, and it should accurately read pressure.  You must have something connected wrong, or have a poor engine ground.  You didn't put Teflon on the threads, did you?

Larry, yes I put teflon on the threads on the fitting that connects to the engine block but not the sensor threads. Is that a possible issue?

The gauge is just a variable ground.  The Teflon might be interrupting the ground circuit.  It's worth a try to clean it off.

Good Luck
