I'm having a problem getting it to lock and unlock.Either with the key or the electric lock.I've got the door panel off right now for another project so now is a good time to fix that.I can not get it to unlock with the key at all.If I press the switch a bunch of times it will eventually unlock.Don't have a problem locking it though.

I have seen two thing commonly cause this.

One is just a lack of lube creating a sticky latch.  The lock connot easily move the latch components.  A good soaking will usually take care of it.  I have seen a few cases where I had to remove the latch to free it up.  In rare cases, you may need to replace the latch.

The other problem with the power locks is the power lock actuator itself.  It can cause the exact same problem.  Try disconnecting the link from the actuator, and seeing how the lock operates.  If all is well, you will need a new actuator.

Start with a good penatrating oil.  Then use a regular oil, perhaps even engine oil.  Once it's operating okay, apply a coating of white grease.  This will mix with the oil and create a "slurry", which GM actually recommends.  But it need to be operating before this, so Rust Eater, and perhaps WD40 to get it working.
