The things you find when you tear your dash out.  Friends I found a passenger floorboard courtesy light socket that fits up and under the glove box.  When I reattached it and placed a bulb in there it worked great - but gave me a new problem - now that it is on it won't shut off.  Does this mean that I need to replace those pressure switches that compress when the door is closed.  I triend pushing both doors switches in but the light remails lit - any other ideas on things to look for that may be causing this?

Do your other courtesy lights stay on?  If not, the problem is in the light assembly or the way it's attached.

If all your courtesy lights stay on, the problem may be the courtesy light timer...not unusual at all after these many years.  It's located behind or under the glove box and it's orange.  I would think if that was your problem, you'd have noticed it by now with your other lights plus have your battery constantly run down.

If I'm not mistaken, and hope someone will correct me if I am...I believe Corvette's are opposite the way metal cars are...the courtesy light switches are always hot and the ground is made or broken through its opening and closing.  You may have a bad switch, but as likely you might have a bad light socket or the way you attached it.  You may have attached it directly to a ground leaving it hot all the time.  If the socket itself is bad and creating a full-time ground, that's why you may have found it where you did...a previous owner could have done that rather than fix the problem correctly.
