Does anybody have or know why my 68 Roadster has a positive ground system in it, & the battery box is big enough to set 2 large batteries in? I've seen many other vettes 67, 68, 69, but none are positive ground. Also, this vette didn't come with an emergency brake at all, & no spare tire carrier. It has 4 wheel disc brakes, but I had to buy everything for an emergency brake. It has a 427, & when we took it to a dino, it is producing a little over 550 hp to the rear wheels. There were absolutely no options on this car, & I was told it had been raced in Europe as well as the U.S. It only has 44,237 miles on it, & will pull the front wheels off the ground going from 1st to 2nd. It set in a field for a year before I got the previous oner to sell it to me, & he swears it is the way it came from the factory???? Does anybody know why a Vette would be sold like this. It also has 3" exaust on it until I put the side pipes on it. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Thanks for the info., I never thought of that. How could a person find out if it was a back door special? The positive wire going to the frame has bolted hold downs about every 3 to 4 inches to keep it from rubbing or being blown around, a very sanatery job whoever did it. What would be the advantage to doing that.

This is hard for a lot of folks to wrap themselves around, but in direct current, the kind we have in our cars, electrons flow from the negative to the positive. This is kinda hard to understand, since the cars have a negative ground, but it's true. It is the natural flow of electrons. Most physics people credit it to flowing the other way, but in truth, it's negitive to positive, even in a negative ground vehicle.

The 427 is origional, numbers do match. The center compartment behind the seats has a switch that you can flip & the car won't start. That is the only compartment you can lock also. I've redone 2 other Vettes, but this one has me stumped . This one I am keeping for my play thing, so I'm not really interested in putting it back stock, but would like to find out what is going on with it.

Do you have any of the build info such as trim codes, option codes or any other method to research the heritage of the vehicle. Even the VIN would be helpful to start with, assuming you know the VIN.
