Normand- Kyster, thanks for the help. ONe more post here. Previous owner butchered the wiring under dash with an aftermarket radio.Need help with power antenna wiring. I just acquired a like new Delco AMFM stereo radio for my 79.
Speaker plugs and wiring all matches up fine. On the power plug I have, these are factory stamped on the wires: Yellow/power - Black/ground - Grey with red stripe/lamp - Pink/power antenna. (Which lamp is the grey/red stripe for?
Wiring from dash matches up for power and ground. Hooking this all up, I have radio and all speakers working. Here is my problem. There are 3 wires coming from the power antenna to the e-brake console. Grey, white and green. These are routed to sometning like an amplifier (?), they are in a plug plugged into this unit. Right above this plug, is another with an orange and yellow wire coming out, routing up to the dash.
The orange goes under the dash as a female plug, (this is for?), and the yellow is hanging loose. I tried to hook the yellow and orange separately to the pink antenna, and not working. Maybe the power antenna unit is not working. Could one of the yellow or orange be for the power antenna ? Under there, I also have a brown and white stripe wire with a plug type connector on it, just laying there also. Thanks for any help.

Here is from a '78 wiring diagram...it should be the same as your '79:

Inside the parking brake console is the antenna relay that you thought might be an "amplifier".

yellow wire - goes from relay to radio to radio fuse in fuseblock (20 amp)

gray wire - relay to antenna motor UP circuit

white wire - relay to antenna motor DOWN circuit

green wire - relay to third connection on antenna motor

orange wire - relay to clock/lighter/antenna fuse (20 amp)

Hope this helps you get things straightened out.

Boatman, Of the three Vettes I have now, and another that I had 87-91, every one needed to have the power antenna mast and "drive shaft" replaced. Even the 25 mile one! Listen for the antenna motor, if you hear it run, you need a mast. I know Ecklers sells the part. Mike

This weekend I may be able to dig up some diagrams. Give me a day or two.
