My '82 has a problem with the power doorlocks, both sides. They work for locking the doors, but won't unlock. I don't hear the solenoid trying to unlock the doors, so I think both switches are bad. Can you replace the switches without pulling the door panels off?
Also, the passenger window door switch works fine to lower the window, but I have to play with the switch to get the window up.
Once it makes contact, the window goes up fine. Could it be just a faulty contact or should I plan on putting new switches in?
Any other ideas or suggestions?

It says in the Haynes manual that the power door lock switches have to be removed to take the door panel off. So I would say yes you can remove them without removing the door panel. They may have a screw on the side either inside or out. like the remote mirror. I also think the switches are bad. So I would replace them. There could be a short in the switch or line. If replacing the switches doesn't clear it up then there is a short. There are many posts to tell you how to check for electrical shorts. I haven't had to do that yet. But have had to remove the door panels to get the locks unfrozen. Removing the door panel was hard my first time , but is easy now.
