I had a rebuilt motor put in and it worked about 4 or 5 times and bamm that was it.So I went with a brand new motor. It has worked for about a week and bamm it's dead. This is on the pass door in an 82.Please someone help. The switch seems fine. When you move the switch you can see the interior lights dim for a split sec.same thing it does for the drivers side so thats why I figure the switch is good.

Something similar happened to me and I went through 2 remanufactured autozone motors. I figured out that the motors will not activate unless they are given tension from the regulator spring. I ended up buying a new regulator mechanisim, complete with a new gear and spring. I have not a problem since and the window goes up and down like new. It did take some patience to figure out how to put it back in and adjust the window properly, but I managed. I think I paid about $115 for a new regulator assembly on ebay.
Tummar.I beleive you are right.Took the car down to the shop and they got it working again(motor wasn't cooked)What was happening was the window going down too far,and the regulator was only rivited in two places. Was the regulator you got able to take 4 rivits? The one I have is a repo and is junk.I guess I'll be looking on e-bay.
Yea from memory it was three or four points of connection, I bolted mine back in. From the factory I think they used rivits and maybe one of your rivits gave out. When I pulled my regulator out it was missing several teeth on the gear and the others where worn nubs and also the spring had little tension compaired to the new one. When pulling yours out remember to slip that bolt into the hole that the instructions tell you about. If not and you unbolt the motor with a finger in the way, You will lose the finger or it might crush it at least. alot of sprung tension there.
I did a little looking around and couldn't find much on ebay but did find this in midamerica's site: regulator. They are a supporting vendor so they might give a discount if you mention this forum.Tumarr 38464.3471412037
Well I took it to my Vette man and the motor was not burned out.He adjusted the window because it was going down too far and that fixed that, but we did talk about getting a new regulator anyway because there is some play in it.I did see the ones in mid america so I'll more than likley go with that.Just for the hell of it I called GM and they still have them in stk for the paltry sum of $380.00!!!!
