yesterday it was 72 degrees in the new york area,so I took the vette out
for a ride, my drivers side power window stopped working, the window
only goes up about 4 inches, but still goes down, other side ok. I haven't
taken the door panel off yet, any ideas what might be the problem. I
also I need help removing the door panel, don't see any screws do they
just snap off.

Does the motor make any noises when you try to run the winder up?
The door panels do have screws in them(or should have), one at the very front/topish area, and at the rear edge. Also thru the door pulls, and behind the handle. The rest of the panel is held to the door with plastic "velcro" type fasteners.
If you don't take the screws out, then yes, they will just "snap" off!

You may simply need to lubricate the rollers, and tracks for the winder. On the other hand, the motor may be ready to take a dump. If you can pull up on the glass while hitting the "up" button, and get the glass up, I'd say lubricate first. If not, time for exploratory surgery...

One thing that can cause a slow up-moving winder is the "helper" spring breaking. This spring is attatched to the center of the regulator, and it provides mechanical assist to help raise the glass. If it is broken, the glass may not want to come up. Usually, if the spring has broken, it will be laying in the bottom of the door. It looks like a clock spring.(a BIG one!)

on my 75 there are two screws for door panel, one on the front side of door and one on the rear side.they have a clip that holds the panel to the door as added security for the velcro snaps. as joel said may just need to lube track or the up stop may have slid down. go to wilcoxcorvette.com for the adjustment procedure. hope this helps eddie208752007-01-07 17:23:03

If it won't come up with you "helping" it, the motor has probably bit the dust. Check all of the connections well first, tho. It may be the switch itself, too. See if swapping the switches does anything.
