Hello everyone,
Has anyone ever converted their door locks to power? I'm in the market for an alarm, and of course key-less entry does not work with non-power door locks. I want to turn them into power locks, which is only used by the alarm, and I want it hidden! That way, I can lock/unlock manually, and I can use the power locks from the alarm, and best of all, no switches for power locks on the inside

My '79 didn't have power-locks. But everything is there to hook up the actuators. So, you just have to add the actuators, the wiring & the switches.

Personally I would put the money into an alarm and disabling system rather than mess with power door locks. All anyone has to do to quickly get into a locked convetible is to slash the fabric on the top. My driver's side door lock doesn't work anyway so if I'm leaving the car unattended for any length of time I just punch in the button that disables the ignition and locks down the hood. A previous owner installed the system so I have no idea who it is made by or how much it cost to have installed.
Power door locks are an important part of any alarm system, especially if you have a key fob that you use to arm it---you want to make sure that the doors are locked as well.
"locking" the hood seems like a useless endeavor when you can't open the hood except from the inside (unless you don't lock the doors).

I think if a thief wants to get into the car, it won't matter what kind of alarm you have, ESPECIALLY if you have a convertible. An electrical or a fuel cut-off switch will only stop an ametuer. If a pro wants your car, they will just pull up with a tow truck and in a very few seconds, the whole car will be gone. I say this because back in early '76 I had a '74 stolen from a fairly busy parking lot. It was locked and had the hard top on it. The cops said it was most likely towed and put into a tractor trailer and moved that way.
