Did you replace the padding under the council by the switches because if not then make sure it is not tuching the switches. We had a problim like that and fount out thet the sound deading pading contains some metal and can short out the switches. If you push the pad down everything will work fine. I know it sounds strange and I didn't beleive the guy who told me that but after working on the 77 none of them worked, i pushed down the pad and then everything worked fine. Mike

Sgm2004, I did take that fuse out you are talking about, the metal 30 amp not glass fuse. I believe this is supposed to act as a breaker fuse. I noticed when I took it out it had a piece of wire wrapped around the terminals of the fuse. This I believe was done by someone so to override the breaker. Why, I am not to sure? I will put the piece of wire back on the fuse and see if this takes care of the window problem I have. Thanks for your help, gives me a great place to start! Take care

If there was wire wrapped around the two terminals of the breaker, it was prolly put there because the breaker is...well...broke!
If you do put some wire back there, and that solves the problem, don't leave it like that. Get a new breaker. Don't want yer car burning to the ground because of that.

I put the wire back on the breaker fuse and the windows still do not work. Tried a 30 amp glass fuse and also did not work. I have the console apart and couldnt find the pwr. window relay as sgm2004 stated that is near to the parking brake switch. When I first got to the pwr. window switches I saw that the wires to the 3 posts on the bottom of the switch's were just held by electrical tape (unbelievable!) I soldered the wires back on the post and am not sure if this may be the problem I am having with them not working. Would soldering cause this? Please let me know what you think, Thanks!

The electrical gremlins continue to haunt me! I did not do anything with the switches as I have posted and only tried replacing a few different fuses that were suggested. I turned the car over to make sure it started and it did. A couple days ago I tried it again (didnt touch anything since previous time) and now it wont turn over but the interior lights and gauges work fine. The battery is fully charged just wont crank over, I get nothing when I turn the key now. Plleeeeasssseeee Help! I need to defeat these gremlins! Thanks to all!

Matt, don't know if this will help. I had a similar problem last year. Check the power feed, just before it splits to each window switch. Take off the tape and clean with brake kleen or electric spray. Mine was slimmy and grounding it's self out, switches didn't work. Good Luck, Dick

Matt, it's possible that you have a fuse link that is almost burnt, and only making contact sometimes. Check the fuse-links down by the starter, and make sure they have 12v on both sides of them. You might wiggle the wires while testing to make sure, as sometimes they will be ok, and then they may not.
Also, move your shifter into neutral, and try cranking it then. The NSS(neutral safety switch) may be the issue with no cranking. Perhaps while you were working with the PW switch wiring, you moved/jiggled something for the NSS.
Not sure where the PW relay would be on the '77...I think the one on my '74 is under the center console, but I can't remember...
Fuse Links on driver side, under booster...
Fuse links on pass side, right of wiper motor...
There are a couple more fuse links down by the starter, usually in the harness, about 4-5 inches up from the starter solenoid.
