Norm, how about dash lighting? Have you replaced any of your dash lights? I have 2 or 3 that are burned out. One is in the speedo and another is in the tach. I have been hesitant to attempt replacing them. I have fat hands amoung other things and cant get my hands up behind the dash. Any secrets you care to share?

Hi Rick
yes i replace some bulbs but you have a 74 and my vette is a 80 it is not the same dash
i have look at the interior of your 74 maybe try to take of the front of your speedo & tach dash pad but you will have to unplug the speedo wire befor pulling it out.
or try to take out the air duck under the dash that will give you more space to work with.
good luck

I've been working behind my dash for a couple days now trying to get backup lights back(Po was a monster!) Anyway, the only way i've found I can do anything useful is to take the tops off and crawl into the seat upside down...just like sitting normally, but your head is under the dash and the feet are up thru the top(well, for tall ole me). It takes a bit of doing to get in and out, but once there I've had no problem working that way(granted I'm 19). The only warning I have is....beware doing thise while the car is up on jackstands...its quite a fall onto your head if you forget!!

Do you have the owners manual? Mine shows all the lamp and fuse data in the back. It doesn't tell you how many instrument bulbs there are, but does list every warning and indicator bulb seperately. By 1980 weren't they pretty much all those "torpedo" style push in bulbs? Joe
