I am changing out the aftermarket radio in my 1972 corvette. When it was installed the heat sink was taken out along with wires that were cut. I will be re-installing an orginall corvette mono radio.(does anyone have a heat sink for sale?) First I have to get the heat sink, but my question is where do I install the heat sink. Is there a certain place up under the dash that the heat sink is installed. Also, If I do decide to go with a stereo radio, is the heat sink location the same as the mono. Thanks, Jimmie

I believe the heat sink part of the radio fits high on the interior side of the firewall, behind the gauges and above the tuner portion. I don't think it makes a difference whether it's a mono or stereo radio for its location. I don't know if the heat sink is radio specific to stereo or mono units.
Tuple, the "heat sink" is actually called a convector, It is different for stereo radios then it is for mono radios. They both mount in the same spot on the passenger side. I have a mono radio for sale ($75 including shipping to the lower 48). It works and has the convector as well. You will need knobs.
Got this image from Juliet back when I was looking for radio info. A mono radio has just one convector where a stereo has two (as is seen in the linked image). The AIM should also have a somewhat decent drawing of where they are located (the stereo drawing in back in the options part of the manual). Hope it helps some.
