Heya!
My battery is dead everytime I come home from school(at college so every three months). This isn't too much of a problem since my parents now know and put it on the charger the day before i get home and it works perfectly. However my parents are about to donate their Chrysler minivan that has a battery that is less than a year old in it. So it would be foolish for me to replace the Vette's battery with a brand new one if we've got a brand new one that works around. Currently in the van is a:
Sears Die Hard 30034 Maintinence Free Weather Handler

Does anyone know if this will cause problems(or be the solution to them). Or know where I need to look to find out?

Scot

Just make sure the pos and neg terminals are on the same side. You might be able to stretch the wires if they are not. Joe

Hiya Scot,
Since your car sits for extended periods of time without being started, you might think about a device called a "battery minder". You hook it up to the battery and as the battery charge drops, it automatically adds charging current to it to keep it fully charged. I understand that as a student, money definately is a priority, but these devices are relatively inexpensive compared to the benefit. You should be able to find one at Pep Boys or Summitt or JC Whitney for under $35 - $40. Who knows, maybe your parents may think it is cost effective to buy it for you instead of going out and charging the battery. |smile|

Glenn,

I'm definatly thinking about a battery minder, but right now I've got an old battery in the Vette and my parents are about to donate one still under warranty. I'm trying to find out if putting the Van battery in will harm anything, will definatly be better charged if it won't break my car for me. Figure it would be foolish to keep an old battery if there is a new one about to be trashed(effectively) so the battery minder is on the list most definatly! My parents do have a charger however, so they just plug it in a day or two before i come home. Thank you guys for posting. What I'm hearing is that the concerns I should have are more about fitting and connections than about the actual battery itself. (sears website made me nervous with different batteries for every car)!

Scot

Batteries come is so many shapes an sizes for a reason.
I'd be concerned that you'd be putting a battery in your Vette that was meant for another type of vehicle all together.

I think you should go with Glenn's suggestion, or buy a new battery.

btw, is it just a bad battery, or do you have an electrical drain somewhere?
