I replaced my OEM power antenna w/ an Ecklers type years ago. Well I am pretty sure it went out and now the motor just runs all the time. I don't remember if it was hard wired in or it had a plug to disconnect it. Is there also maybe a fuse I can pull until I get the time to get in the area to repair or replace? Big pain to get to, will have to drop part of my exhausted system.

Antennas R us I think is the name of the place that has a repair kit. I removed the tire to access the antenna. Was much easier.
The power antenna plug "should have been" behind the rear speaker. Chances are if the antenna has been replaced, either the plug got pulled through to the other side of the FG bulkhead and is out by the antenna. The other option is the antenna got directly wired into the rear harness and the plug was removed. Not sure if you're familiar with the console assembly, but there is another power antenna plug up behind the radio. You should be able to get at it by removing the fiberboard/carpeted console side panel on the passenger side. Check your '79 wiring diagram for the correct wire color, there should be three pairs of wires that go from the radio to the rear of the car, two for the rear speakers and one pair for the power antenna. That end of the connection could also have some "modifications" if the radio has been replaced at some time. Good luck and let us know what you find !!
