A friend of mine just bought a '69 vette about a month ago and has been going through the car, working out the bugs. He bought a mini high torque starter for it.
The problem is the old starter has wires going to the "R" terminal and the "S" terminal on the soleniod. The new starter only has one terminal on the solenoid.
What do we do with the extra wire now????

The wire on the old starter, on the "R" terminal, goes to the ign. coil. It is used to give the coil a full 12 volts when cranking. (The wire from the ign. switch to the coil is a "resistor wire", to keep from melting the coil and the points)
If the "R" wire is left unhooked, the car will probably still start, but it might just take a little longer, due to the reduced voltage at the coil/points. You could just put it on the "S" terminal, along with the large purple wire from the ign. switch, and it would work OK.
