Took the vette out today. It ran as expected but the temperature needle was bouncing all over the place ( pegs from side to side and everywhere inbetween ) with just the slightest road vibration, the temp never got over 170 deg durring the 80 mile drive and if the road is smooth or I am at a stop the temp reads normal at 170 degrees. Is their a way to stop or limit these oscillations?

Yeah.....fix the loose connection!
Sounds like either the wire from the sender unit in the head is gounding out somewhere, or the gauge itself is losing it's ground. Check the sender wire first.
