I have a 71 vette and am think about buying a 76 tilt steering column to replace the non-tilt. What's invoved and what needs to be none about the dimmer switch being on the floor in 71 and on the turn signal lever in 76? How difficult is this to do?
Any step by step instructions will be helpful.

don't think there would be too many problems but you may want to
condider getting one from a 75 as the dimmer switch is still in the
floor. no need to create more headaches to do it.

My 76 dimmer switch is on the floor, but I would go earlier than 76 - just so you have a selection in the wheel. With the 76, you pretty much limit yourself to the 76 Vega wheel. Nothing wrong with the Vega wheel, it's unique - as is the Vette.

I just finished my interior on a 72 convertible with a 1977 T & T column. This was the only year for this type column from what I researched, its a few inches shorter and it offers horn and wiper lever on the colum and a great tilt. Use the plug connector off the old column for the 77 column to allow you to plug in to your wire harness. You can leave your dimmer and wiper switch as is or switche to the column. Also you may have to make spacers blocks (no more than 1/2" thick) and new bolts to attach to the firewall column bracket. If not you will be crushing the top of the cut out in your dash pad.
