Topic: Transmission Park switch

George this may not be the park switch per say.
The cable between the shifter and automatic may be out of adjustment, or the cable between the trans and the base of the steering column. If either of these are off, the shifter won't move properly and it will give you the same problem.
You and disconnect the cables one at a time and try the shifter and starting to help isolate the problem. Start with the one under the hood at the base of the column. It's just a snap clip.

If all is well with the cable/bracket, then the switch may be the problem. It is mounted on the shifter itself, inside the car. You need to take the console plate off, and then you can get to the switch. I have seen some switches get "welded" on the inside, and cause problems such as this.
My bet is on a cable problem.

The switch is on the shifter, but the cable has a LOT to do with it. When the cable is hanging up, the shifter won't move all the way to park, so the switch does not get triggered.

I'm going to try the cleaning methad first. But Richard don't through your switch a way just yet I may still need it. Super thanks to all replys.
