Anybody out there know how to adjust the park switch on there vette. I have to really slam mine into park and sometimes push on the shift lever in order to start my car. I'm sure there must be some sort of cantact point or something. Any help would be great. Oh this is a automatic we'r talking about. Thanks in add vance.

George this may not be the park switch per say.

The cable between the shifter and automatic may be out of adjustment, or the cable between the trans and the base of the steering column.  If either of these are off, the shifter won't move properly and it will give you the same problem.

You and disconnect the cables one at a time and try the shifter and starting to help isolate the problem.  Start with the one under the hood at the base of the column.  It's just a snap clip.

Sounds like a shifter cable adjustment if you have to "slam" it into park. The cable may also be damaged on the end that goes to the shift lever on the trans. They can bend there. Also, make sure the cable is good & tight in the bracket, and the bracket is tight where it bolts to the trans pan.
If all is well with the cable/bracket, then the switch may be the problem. It is mounted on the shifter itself, inside the car. You need to take the console plate off, and then you can get to the switch. I have seen some switches get "welded" on the inside, and cause problems such as this.
My bet is on a cable problem.

The Switch is located in the Shifter itself so the Cable has nothing to do with it. Will it start in Neutral ?? Sounds to me Your going to need a new Switch as I don't think there is any Ajustment. I just did a Body Off and Converted to a Tremec 5 Speed and spent a Day tracing wires to find out why Mine wouldn't Start. I still have the Auto Shifter Wired up but it was laying on the Floor Backwards and when I thought it was in Park it was in 1st. If You want I could send You the Switch I'm just going to Throw it away anyway. Mine is a 1980 I don't know if its the same or not. Richard.

I had to take mine apart and clean the contacts. There is a little room for adjusting on my 73. The mounting holes are slotted.

The switch is on the shifter, but the cable has a LOT to do with it.  When the cable is hanging up, the shifter won't move all the way to park, so the switch does not get triggered.
