Vette(s): 1978 vette with an 80-82 stlye rear end molded in. BW six speed & an L82... for now. Lowered with VBP springs and bilsteins. Polished torq thrust wheels. New paint, audio system, aluminum radiator... Flowmaster and extreme flow exhaust components.
Still haven't been able to fix the turn signals. Pulled out my glove box to check the flasher, it was plugged in ): Where should I go from here? What should I check and how should I check it? Thanks -Adam |bouncy|

I think I missed something here. What are they doing or not doing?

Turn Signals just don't work... All of the other lights work. Not sure about the flasher, how can I check? |bouncy|

If all the lights work normally except they don't flash, it sounds like your flasher has gone bad. They're very inexpensive...just replace it. It should be a number 552 flasher. If it's the original, which it likely is, it has certainly lasted a long time.

There's also a flasher in the console near the shifter. One unit is for the turn signals, the other is for the emergency flashers. It wouldn't hurt to replace both.

But isn't it odd that both stopped at the same time? Isn't there a flasher for each side? |headscratch|

No...the right and left turn signals use one flasher relay. The emergency flashers use a different relay. That all the lights work otherwise except for not flashing is a tipoff that the flasher relay is bad.

Also, the brake light and the turn signal on the rear are the same bulb, filament, and wire from the steering column to the rear of the car. So if the brake lights work, you know that the wires and all are good.

They actually feed the brakes light switch to the turn signal switch. When you turn on the turn signal, you disconnect one of the brake lights and connectect the turn signal flasher to the light.

So now if the turn signals don't work, and the brake lights do, it is a power supply which includes the fuse and turn signal flasher, or turn signal switch.
