My A/C blower started acting up today. First, it would not go into high, No problem, I'll check the relay. Then it wouldn't shut off even with the key off. Now I am starting to get a little pissed. OK, take a break. couple hours later and I start looking at it again only now everything seems fine. I close the door and it stops again. Open the door and it starts working. Hummm, Now I figure I should see what happens when I push in the door switches. Front switch, nothing, back switch (alarm) and it starts working. OK maybe I have a bad ground some where, put a meter on it and with the door closed the relay only has a few volts, open the door and I get the full 12 volts. Guess I am going to half to pull the console apart and see what gives. Always something to do to these old cars. Redwingvette2007-06-02 20:02:47

Just as I suspected, a bad ground. After studing the electrical schematic and follow the wires around I found a ground wire broken off where it attached to the motor. Fortunately I found it before I started taking a bunch of stuff apart. Sometimes I need to walk away from a problem and come back later with a clear head. Redwingvette2007-06-03 06:45:23

Hey Brian, sounds like a textbook example of diagnosing the problem and then solving it. Congrats on your patience, and persistence--it's a good reminder to me of how to approach the various issues we all have with, as you say, "these old cars"!

Don't ya just love it when it turns out to be easy? Easy as in, you didn't spend three days on it just to find the problem?
Congrats!
