Hi guys i have 1976 Stingray and i recently filled up the washer bottle and it decided to deposit the contents on the floor, no problem i'll just take it out and and repair it, or so i thought, how do you get it out
!!!!, it looks like i have to remove the canister below or the brake servo above(no surely not !).
Any one out there can tell me the best way to get this out i would very much appreciate it
Gary

welcome to the wonderful world of working on a corvette
youll have to pull the brake booster..
and to do this you will need to be a contortionist as you have to take 4 nuts off the booster studs under the dash.. i remember it being easier with an auto.. but not by much..

Be careful you don't jump to the conclusion I did. After buying my car, I tried the washer fluid, but it didn't work. Fluid looked low, so I filled it. After filling it up and seeing a steady stream leaking on the floor, I concluded that the tank was cracked and needed replacement. However, on closer inspection, my '81 has a separate neck from the tank and it was leaking where the two join. If I fill only the tank and do not fill it up into the neck, everything is fine. Also, it just took 10 - 20 seconds of holding the washer on until the pump finally pushed water all the way through the hoses. I guess it hadn't been used in quite some time... Good luck.
Guys
Thanks for the responses, i too had the 'Leaking neck" problem, but unfortunatley the whole bottle has drained itself dry while in the garage, so i definatley have a problem at the botton(no not mine), i unable to tell where it is leaking until i get it out.
OH well i guess it's out with the brake servo, BUM !!!!!

I've been reading this thread and am slightly curious about something. On my 72, drivers side, you can remove a splash gard behind behind the front wheel from underneath. there you can access the charcoal canister. Not sure if you model has a removable splash gard, but would it not be possible to just drop it downward through this opening. You might have to move the charcoal canister if it has one in the same area.
I guess I'm lucky as all I have is a bag and it comes right out.

OK guys last night when i got home i took another look at it and i was convinced(God knows why) that i could get it out other than removing the Brake servo, and i found it, first remove the drivers side aluminum trim panel that runs along the side of the car, this will give you access to the 2 bolts that holds a plate in place just below the carbon filter, then undo the other 2 bolts that hold the plate to the wheel arch, now reach inside the front wheel arch and undo the bolts holding the carbon filter, then from underneath the car turn the filter upsidedown and remove the pipes, then it is an easy job of feeding the washer bottle down through the hole, it only took me about 15 mins and a darm site easier than removing the brake servo.
But guys i really do appreciate all your help, next time as soon as i get home i will read my e mail as when i opened it the answer was there.
