Washer pump (5 port) piston moves up and down but does not suck in/push out water. When I blow water into the center inlet port it dribbles out a small hole in the back of the piston case.
Any suggestions/ideas?
Thanks

Under the caps where the lines hook to the pump, there are check valves installed. These go bad. Sometimes you can remove and clean them, sometimes you need to replace them. Very easy to do.
There is an "O" ring in the washer pump that went bad.
Sent wiper/washer to "Wiperman" and he rebuilt the washer pump. Looks new and works perfectly now - water comes out onto the windshield and headlights. He did a great job and easy to work with. I tried to disassemble the pump myself but got to the point of having to drill or grind stuff and chickened out. His email is "wiperman57@msn.com"

What did you have to do to install this. I just got a 5 port washer and need to remove a 3 port and put this one in. Did you have to remove the whole motor assembly? Can it just be removed by taking off the ignition shielding? Do you have to pull the distributor
YellowLt1,
I got it installed. But it does not pump. Did you have to prime yours when you got it fixed or did it pump right away. If not I think I need the O ring too.

I haven't been on for a couple of days, sorry.
When you have the washer pump cover assy in you hand, you will see a hole in the front of the cover that is in line with the cam under the cover. Look at the cam and you will find a matching hole. Rotate the cam so you can put a pin, drill bit, cotter pin, etc, into the cover hole and the cam hole.
This keeps the pump lined up properly so it can be installed and match positions. The wipers should be in the park position.
Without the proper alignment, the washer will make noise, or not operate at all.

I put it in yesterday. I wish I had that info yesterday. It would have helped alot. Now you make me think I might not have it in right. I looked at the old one and I see the hole you are talking about. I did notice when I was putting the new one on it was not matching up right and I was trying to move the cam back to match. What I did was I came in from the top and tried to get the pin on the wiper to go in. It took awhile but I think I got it in. The reason I think that it is on right is because it would not sit flush until it was on right. With the cover off and the wipers on the pump moves in and out. The only noise I get is when you activate the washer there is a loud click. I think it is in right. What do you think? I tried to prime the pump by feeding water into it, but it still does not pump. It must be worn. Thanks for the help.
It sounds like you may have it in place, but did it the hard way. Still not pumping? Check the washers and o-rings. But you could have too much play in the piston, and losing the seal there.
At least now if you pull it back off you can easily reinstall it.

I got it working. First I had the idea you had about the piston. I replaced the piston from my old one. It still did not work. Then I took to whole thing off the car. I took it apart and was going to put the original piston back in and send it out to be repaired. That is when I noticed a hair line crack about the size of an eyelash. I ended up sealing it with some sealer/glue that stays flexible. Put it back on yesterday with the technic you taught me and had it back on in less than 5 minutes. It was so much easier your way. I turned it on and now it has so much pressure that it sprays from the wipers all the way to the rear bumpers. Thanks for the help.
