Hey all! Well I'm not sure what the one on the left is. Came out of the head above the starter.  The one on the right is my temp sending unit correct? They are too big for my new alum heads so I'm going to have to figure something out.

Appearance and location makes me think its the temp sensor for the electric fan.

yep. I THINK the sensors for the 81-82 Vettes are smaller and may fit.

Have you tried separating the sensor(on the left) from the adapter? It appears to have much smaller threads, so perhaps it may fit directly into the head. If not, then you can use a different adapter.

Cool thanks everyone, Clap that makes sense now! The parts store I visit has a nice selection of fittings and what not so hopefully they got something there that will work.  79rebuild2007-12-17 00:02:48

I believe the left one is the temperature switch for the electic fan.  Mounts in the right head right above the starter.  I believe the one on the right is the temperature sensor. Mounts in the left head, kinda under the alternator.  They look just like the ones on my '81.  Surprised if they don't fit as-is.

well this is turning out to be more complicated than I thought it would be. The OE brass temp and adapter are 3/4" and the hole in my heads is 5/8" no one has an adapter that I have found as of yet. I got a temp sending unit from a later c3 and guess what size that is? 1/2" LOL Wits%20EndJoel, the fan sennsor unscrews but it's a 5/16th thread. Big%20smile Would it be an issue relocating these to a spot on the intake manifold possibly? Would there be a big difference in the coolant temp?
