I have the same problem with my '74. Doesn't want to start when the engine's hot. Bought a gear reduction starter for $90 that supposedly doesn't act as a heat sink. Haven't had it installed yet. Hope it does the trick.

If none of the other options helps check this. I had a similar problem and after some research I discovered this.
TURN OFF THE ALARM SYSTEM. If your alarm doesn't beep it may still be working but the alarm horn is defective. This means the system is armed all the time draining the battery quickly. I did this and solved the problem. Now I have to replace the horn.

That's a good tip, Mike! One that I fergotted aboot. A lot of times, the alarm relay itself will hang, even when turned off. If the alarm horn isn't working, or is gone, you'd never think to check it.
