Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated as I am lost on the wiring diagram from ----
My 1969 is far from original as can be seen from the photos and I am trying to get the winshield wipers to function - mostly because I am bored not that they are really needed in the middle of a draught in the winter in NC.
The previous owner claims they worked for him prior to my purchasing the car.....right. I have bench tested the motor and it works, fuse has been replaced; when the switch is activated you hear a solenoid "click" somewhere under the dash - have yet to find it - but nothing else happens and there is no voltage reaching the motor lead. With the modified hood all the linkages and interlocks were removed long ago that could normally interfer with the intial operation. I am going to take the dash apart again and run a jumper to assure a good ground on the switch but shouldn't I be finding 12 volts on the red lead to the motor??
I have been tempted to run a new hot lead and switch under the dash for emergency flash rains(if they come) when the rain-ex fails......
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
jim

The only knob or switch under the column on this car is about 3 inches to the right of the hood release it appears as though it use to reset the trip odometer - now it just sort of spins and does nothing - a lot like the wipers themselves.

Do you have the '69 assembly instruction manual and an owner's manual. AIM shows the necessary hardware and wiring for the wipers, including the solenoid on the back the the tach (probably the "click" you hear but can't find). Owner's manual explains the overrides.

68-72 wiper operation is electirc, but wiper door activation is vacuum. When you turn on the wipers, an electric signal goes to the solenoid on the tach which directs vacuum to the wiper door. Once the wiper door opens, a plunger on the wiper door mechanism makes contact with the wiper switch at the cowl and powers on the wipers. Wipers will not come on until the wiper door has cleared the wiper arms.
The overrides will open/close the wiper door or stop the wipers on the windshield.
If you're running a non-stock hood with no wiper door, I am assuming the wiper switch plunger was removed with the door hardware.

Thanks for the tips Mike and 71 Shark,
I found the problem based on looking for the missing switch - the 2 wires that would have normally gone to the "missing" switch were taped off and tucked under the dash - hense no power going from the red lead(hot) to the red and white wire going to the motor. Put the two wires together and the wipers work like they should......
Thanks again for the point into the right direction.
Jim
