Alright guys, this one is driving me up a wall. The wipers on my 79 work on pulse, intermittent works, but with the switch on low or high it just runs on high speed. So I figured the motor was bad. Put the new motor on and then I had high, low, and pulse, but no intermittent. I have a friend with an 80 so I checked and my harness has the same voltage in the same spots when wiper switch is in each position. I mean, the switch and relay must be working since I have intermittent with the old motor, right? I always get the challenging problems. Any ideas? I've called just about all the Corvette places and they all maintain that the motor on the 79 is no different from 74-82. So what gives?

You have an intermittent module that could be flaking out, or the fuse/circuit board may be loose in the fuse box. I think the '79 has the circuit board mounted on the fuse box....
I'm not sure about ALL of the wiper motors being the same, tho...

Well you won't believe this, but today the wipers are working as they are supposed to! Same motor, same parts. I did order a new intermittent relay module and at the same time I ordered what they called an "updated intermittent relay system" (from Ecklers). I don't know what it has in it, the picture looks like a module with cables coming out of it. The wiring harness is in excellent shape, wires supple and insulation looks lie new. Would the intermittent relay affect the normal low speed? I would think that would be right from the switch, wouldn't it? If it keeps working would you still swap out the relay or just keep it in case something happens? I like it better when something is either good or bad. That way you know if you've fixed it or not.

Joel, the part is called "Covette windshield wiper intermittent improved module" 1978-1979 Eckler's part # 51966. I also don't know where any other circuit board for the wipers would be. Oh yeah, Joel, thanks for chiming in on this!

I looked up the part on Volunteer Vette and it says the new and improved module replaces the original PC board and mecanical relay. Mounts in original location (which in 79 is under the center console). I think I'm going to swap in this part when I get it. It can't hurt, can it? So I guess the PC board does affect ALL speeds on the motor? I just want it to work! Besides, nobody I can find has the PC board, just the relay. I HAD a PC board AND relay, but gave it to my friend Hank when his PC board burnt up (literly, it torched).

Yeah, Dave, tell me that on the way to MAM last year!

DARN!!!! The replacement module is backordered, so God knows when that will be delivered! Why is everything you want on back order? Oh well, at least the wipers are working for now!

Rain X is the key and it's cheaper .........LOL !!!!
